The Belgian Week 9-11 May, 2023, an organization of BEROCC and the Belgian embassy in Romania, took place in Timisoara since that city is this year the Capital of Culture. The theme of the B-week was “Agriculture & Food“.
Beside round tables on different issues of agriculture, B2B meetings where organized and visits of different companies in the region.
Jozef Goebels, president ADR/TON and member of the advisory board of BEROCC, participated and had discussions with a number of Belgian business leaders and board members of BEROCC about possible cooperation and sponsorship of projects.
He also had a brief meeting with Alin Nica, president of the Timis county council whom he has known since the first Forum Decentralized Cooperation Belgium-Romania in Brussels 2006. Since Alin had to leave for Poland, it was agreed to have an intensive meeting later.
Jozef took the opportunity to visit Scoala Babel and discuss further cooperation. Cristina Vladu, Ioan Suru, Gabriel Suru joined me for this visit and we where welcomed by Monica Diaconu, director and founder and Daniela Silindean, cofounder of Scoala Babel.
At the same time Jozef took the opportunity to participate at the kick off meeting of the “Creșterea accesului populației vulnerabile la servicii medicale preventive” project together with Cristina Vadu (ADR/TON health expert and project and project manager), Ioan Suru (vice-president TON and project partner with ADAMS) and with the partners from Arad i.e. DSP Arad and the village of Vinatori (twinned with Turnhout in Belgium).
During the gala dinner of the Belgian Week and at the suggestion of Jozef Goebels, a sponsorship of 3.000 Euros was handed over by BEROCC, 2.000 Euros by VPK and 200 printed T-shirts by SAMDAM to Scoala Babel for supporting their immersion trip with students to the Netherlands in 2023.
It is planned to organize the same immersion trip to Belgium next year.
